Death Note--Manga Review

Series Title: Death Note

Authors: Tsugumi Obha and Takeshi Obata

Number of Volumes: 12 (with a 13th volume about the manga series)

My Thoughts:

This series was pretty good. I read it after I read Bakuman, which is by the same authors as Death Note.
Light Yagami is a high school student who finds a Death Note - a notebook where if you write someone's name in it, they will die. Ryuk is the shinigami who dropped it because he was bored. Light vows to use it for the good of the world. So he starts writing the names of criminals in the Death Note.
But things get hard when he gets the police and the legendary detective L. looking for him so that they can stop him . . .
I enjoyed this series, but it got boring and repetitive after the real L. is killed by Light and Near randomly appears out of nowhere. I really hated the character Near--if Light was going to lose, why couldn't he have lost when the real L. was alive???

My Rating: 3 stars
